What's it like working for Aldi? That's what we asked a few employees...

Store Manager

"Never a dull moment." That's how Chris describes his full time Store Managers position with Aldi.

"A typical shift is hectic. I start at 7.00 in the morning and 'blast' out all the fresh products that come in overnight. At 9.00 trading starts and we have to be ready, then we'll carry on filling up the store. It's a busy day and my staff work extremely hard, which is why I make it a priority to ensure they take their well-deserved breaks."

Staffing issues are a key part of a job like this and everyday I make sure I talk to at least one member of staff about how things are going, if I can help with anything or if they can help me. It's real teamwork.

Other daily responsibilities include completing paperwork, ordering stock and of course dealing with customers and their shopping experience. "If you can learn to juggle and you have the drive to succeed it's a great career. "I can enjoy the true ownership of my store and the knowledge that I'm part of a larger, supportive organisation."

Chris enjoys the Aldi way of working, "Yes it's hard work and long hours sometimes but I'm very well rewarded financially plus I can pick and choose what time I take off each week dependant on how the business is running. Working for Aldi has given me fantastic opportunities, I've been on holiday to Australia this year and last year I went to the Maldives."
